For those who follow ARMOR on Facebook and Twitter, I posted that ARMOR was recently on the cover of Dazed and Confused Korea with Coco Rocha! I came across a video from the shoot, and I have to say, Coco Rocha is amazing to watch. Her expressions and body movements are so fluid, it is no wonder she was a top model choice for so many designers! She is working those ARMOR pieces. Check her our below:
A couple months back I got an email requesting pieces for a L’officiel shoot. Of course the email was urgent, and they needed the pieces overnight… to PARIS! ($$$) Press requests are always a gamble. I get excited when I get requests, but I also have to remember that it never a guarantee that they will even use your stuff. Even if they do, they have hundreds of photos to pick from, and it still may not make it to print. Request come months in advance, so when the magazines are out and I actually see a piece on the page, its a surreal moment.
Overnighting samples to Paris cost me a fortune, but it TOTALLY paid off this time. Even though it is a small piece, I will take ARMOR on the same pages as Givenchy any day. L’Officiel 90th issue. Missy Rayder. Leda Ring. AMAZING.
Idiel Showroom debuted their private label LEIDI at the trade shows this year. I always say I am a t shirt and jeans kind of girl, so I can never have enough basics. Throw on the basics with some statement making jewelry, and you are set to go! When LEIDI asked to pull some accessories for their look book, without hesitation I said “yes”. The collection is basic, but the fits are not. LEIDI consists of chic jersey tops and dress with interesting silhouettes. (They also have shoes!) The look book is fantastic and I am honored to have ARMOR included. Thank you to Richard Chun and David. Ahn!
Although SS/12 NY Fashion Week just finished up, I have my eye on Fall 2011! The weather has finally cooled down, and I can not wait for fall to officially begin on the 23rd. Get ready to layer up!
A little bit to my surprise, Michael Kors’s Fall 2011 collection is one my favorites this season. The collection is so luxe, yet has a laid back feel to it. I love the clean silhouettes and the wonder woman like jewelry. (SONJA CUFF) Totally subtle sexy.
I LOVE seeing PHANTOGRAM getting bigger in the music scene, and I LOVE the fact that their new video, “As Far As I Can See” includes loads of ARMOR. Seriously, Sarah always looks amazing! (Thanks to Noel.) Check out the video below featuring the INES, SONJA CUFF, and AELLA RING!
When the costume department for True Blood contacted me, I remember I grabbing my friends arm in the middle of the street and saying “Oh my god, True Blood.” I initially thought they were just going to use some of the pieces from the collection as is, but when the head designer asked for custom pieces, I could not have been more excited. It was a litte bit of a challenge at first, but both sides were thrilled with the results.
We knew the UME looked the best with the rest of the costume, but the costume designer wanted the detailing to be on both shoulders. I initially thought, “oh thats simple. I’ll just repeat the chain detail on the other side.” Wrong. With the chain being on both sides, the weight was different, so the draping was not sitting correctly. I had to readjust both sides, find a heavier chain as a base, and work from there.
The most important detail about the jewelry was the coloring. We had to make sure that the jewelry didn’t look silver (Vampires die from silver). It had to have more of a “molted” look. I tried various techniques to achieve this result and in the end we went with the 2nd photo below.
Even though it is a bit difficult to see in the scene, I was also asked to create some cuffs to match the style of the necklace. I have added some more details below.
*Special thanks to the Costume Department at Fangbanger Productions. It as truly and honor to work with you! Thank you for the opportunity.
Fashionologie.com has posted a great story on the double cuff trend! (Click HERE for the full story) I think the following looks below can easily be worked with the SONJA cuff.
